About

Theralane is the private psychotherapy practice of Yin J. Li, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Pronouns: They/She

As a child of working class immigrants, I understand the shame and stigma of needing and seeking support from an outsider, a therapist.

I first went to therapy in my early 20s. I remember sitting in my car before my first appointment, terrified.  I was flooded with anger, resentment, and grief.  I was conditioned by my family and by my environment to produce and please. And, despite my best efforts, this conditioning was impacting every area of my life in ways that were harmful.  I didn’t know it at the time but that first therapy session would change the course of my life.

Eventually, I pursued my Masters in Counseling Psychology, became a licensed therapist, and left a 15 year career in technology.

As a psychotherapist, I draw from culturally informed psychoanalytic theory and incorporate somatic, experiential and Internal Family Systems approaches. My approach is warm, collaborate, engaged, and direct. You will feel supported and, at times, a little challenged by me.
