My clients tend to be Asian and Asian Americans professionals, creatives, activists who despite being "highly functioning" have an internal world that is haunted by the past and present. They often feel unsatisfied, burdened, insecure, resentful, angry and, at times, overcome with emotions. And, they are committed to healing, exploration, and growth.
In our sessions, I pay close attention to what you are share and how you share. It's not just who you are but what has happened to you, in what context, and what meaning you derive from it. I ask questions. I facilitate a process of intellectual, emotional, somatic (body) inquiry into yourself to help promote healing and growth.
My style is warm, curious, engaged, and collaborative. You will feel both supported by me and, at times, a little challenged by me.
I find that regular meetings with clients is most useful. I see clients weekly or every other week at a set time for a 50 minute appointment.
While some studies suggest that online therapy is just as effective as in person therapy, I prefer to see clients in person.
However, that is not always possible for clients due to constant travel, work and family demands, lack of culturally informed therapists near you, social anxiety, etc. In these situations, online therapy is better than no therapy or therapy with therapist that is not a good fit.
There are circumstances and conditions in which we would not recommend online therapy. We can discuss your particular situation in a phone consultation.
Similar to an in person therapy session, we schedule a 50 min appointment at a set time and use encrypted video technology to communicate.
Due to state regulations, I am only able to offer online therapy for those who reside in California and Oregon.
